8.23.2007 | How can I forget sunsets?

I cannot believe I forgot to post on one of the most beautiful views I've seen in like... forever. As my flight was nearing its end in Washington state airspace, just above that cloud blanket, 30Kft over the Earth, I watched the sun set just over the horizon line. There's nothing quite like literally seeing the Sun's light reflecting a crescent arc over it's trim. It's at those heights you can clearly tell, if you were not convinced before, that the Earth IS round. We are living on top of a beautiful blue marble that is made just for us and keeps us alive at just the right temperatures and atmospheric settings. God is amazing like that. It was quite the comforting thought and one of those moments that stays with you in rough times.

8.22.2007 | Job interviews, packing boxes, the story continues...

This past weekend I flew back via a transfer in Detroit to Evansville. I did only four things while there.

1. Wedding & rehearsal for said wedding

2. Sleep [and not just during the night]

3. Went out to eat Rira's down by the boat with friends Saturday night.

4. Packed seven boxes to be shipped out Monday full of dvds, books, plates, and other such things one needs to feel at home again in a new place.

So here I am, back again in Seattle via a transfer in Vegas. That airport is just disgusting. Matt put it best as it feels like I get an STD just standing in it. Okay, maybe not that harsh, but it was funny. I'm warning you now, try to not have your transfer in Vegas if possible.

I've had a number of interiews, both design related and not, but I'll adhere from any details here. I will of course announce for sure hiring should and when it happens. In the meantime, I gotta watch the spending and dabble in Photoshop and CSS the best I can. Over and out.

8.15.2007 | Chapter Two, C Part: My computer has arrived!

Yep, my computer arrived via parcel this afternoon and I write and post this from my bedroom. Now I'm back online, Skype and all 24/7. I'm still using SLIPSTR3AM for Skype, but that may change tomorrow. Go ahead and add Slipstream.cc and I'll add ya as a friend there too. I'll drop SLIPSTR3AM very soon.

As for the job, still hunting but I got three design leads just tonight in community group. I'll leave it at that till I hear something. Pray hard! Now I'm oft to bed.

8.02.2007 | Chapter Two, B part: Bravo, Barnes & Noble!

First off, orientation at Nintendo went well. Now it's just a matter of time when a game project is ready and I'll be called to start it. Until then, its a waiting game.

Today I got a postcard from B&N, whom I applied and interviewed for last week. They sent it just to say that I did not get the position, which stinks, but at the same time, I saw it as a victory. God obviously doesn't want me there, but as a bigger second: They actually went out of their way and told me no.

I'll say it again, just for those of you Evansville employers who are reading this. A business whom I applied for went out of their way and settled my heart by letting me know yes or no if I fulfilled a job. They didn't just let it sit and make the interviewee wait by the phone for days on end. So cheers to B&N for that!

Now I have to wonder if I should apply elsewhere or not. I guess it couldn't hurt. I've even toyed with calling Mars Hill and seeing if I can do some volunteer work while the do some renovations. Better than sitting around the house waiting.

Off to an open interview.

7.26.2007 | Chapter Two: Arrival and Assimilation

Hola from the Northwestern tip of America. Seattle, Washington. Home to just over half a million people... including myself.

My roommate Brant picked me up from the airport, with my bewildered face on and all. The flights were uneventful and kinda boring, but I got some reading done and chatted some with one girl who was tending to her younger sister, newb flyer, and making sure she didn't freak out. She did pretty well for her first time. People really do make a big fuss about nothing. Planes are the safest way to travel and that fear of crashing only comes because plane crashes make better news than some random family flipping their minivan on the side of the freeway. You know its true. Same lives, but the vehicles somehow constitute more airtime. Oh, America. [Keep in mind, it was strategic of me to move so close to the Canadian border. Just in case *hint*hint].

So my roommates are Brant, Scott [whom contacted me via the Relevant message boards and I've yet to meet because he's out of town this week], Thad [yes, a Thad], and John. There is also Jacob, who will soon be moving out. His room is the one I'll be taking.

Riding the Metro is an adventure. Still trying to work out the kinks of the system. It can be difficult determining which stop I should be at, even while using tripplanner.metrokc.gov as my guide.

I've been out exploring and job hunting. I think I'm making some progress, but I'd like to leave out any info I know till I know for sure. You know, keeps the suspense up for ya. In all truth, I don't want to post something till I know for sure. So there you have it. I'll keep ya all updated. This begins Chapter Two.
